Presbyterian Church of the Cross
BUILDING EXPANSION EXPLORATION COMMITTEE
Minutes – June 19, 2006 – 7:00pm
Members present: Lloyd Meyer, Paula Allen, Mac McCartney,
Jean Brady, Amy Boesen, June Fettig, Chris Erickson
The BEEC met tonight with the
primary goal of addressing the Building Space Program as outlined in the Hahn
plan. This was at the request of the
Architectural Advisory Panel (AAP). At
the last BEEC meeting, Paula Allen, as a member of the Christian Educ Committee
as well as BEEC, was asked to find out how many rooms were needed for any new
expansion of the church.
An itemized list of needs
from the Christian Educ meeting was given to Lloyd Meyer, head of the AAP. Multiple ideas were discussed with the plans
of Mr. Hahn and Mr. McCartney. Much of
the discussion dealt with rooms for the pre-school and the need for the
pre-school to remain easily accessible to parents driving to drop-off or
pick-up their kids, trying to utilize the same rooms for our own Sunday School
since the furniture would be the same size, and the need for keeping the
pre-school a fair distance away from the sanctuary in order to not interfere
with funerals, etc.
The need for a new façade for
the church was also discussed with several ideas mentioned. There is strong sentiment about having a
parlor or extended narthex area for people to meet prior to worship.
The AAP has a meeting
scheduled for Tuesday, June 27 at 7 PM.
Mr. Hahn will be there to listen to review the Building Space Program
and consider a variety of ideas on how to achieve those goals.
The meeting adjourned with
plans to meet again on Tuesday, July 11
at 7 PM.
