BUILDING EXPANSION EXPLORATION COMMITTEE

Minutes – May 30, 2006 – 7 pm

Committee Members present: David Moore (moderator), Mary Ann Pederson (clerk), Paula Allen, Amy Boesen, Jean Brady, Chris Erickson, Doug Hartman, Larry Keating, Mac McCartney, Lloyd Meyer, John Morey

Recap of recent activity:

• The Session is working on a compelling statement of the case for building expansion and on a graphic logo/slogan for the project.
• Separate subcommittees were to:
• Assess current building usage patterns
• Determine the scalability of the Hahn plan (small, medium, large versions)
• Work on modifying the Hahn plan according to recent findings
• Determine feasibility of building in stages

Mac McCartney presented sketches of a different concept for meeting the building needs, using a large wing between the north parking lot and the circle drive, adding about 9600 square feet and renovating about 4000 square feet of the exisiting building.

Chris offered to contact the architect-members of the congregation to form an advisory group, of which Lloyd would be the BEEC liaison. The advisory group would be asked to review sketches and recommend modifications, a shortcut for communications with the architects who would actually prepare a new plan for the building.
