Report to the Session Retreat is to be given on Friday evening, April 21 about 8:00 pm. at Camp Calvin Crest. All available committee members are requested to attend. It may be considered an “in-progress” report, and should be illustrated with handouts or charts showing our findings. The data should be complete before our April 4 BEEC meeting.
Reporting of “votes” should be clarified, since some congregation members have been present at more than one meeting—a single person’s opinion may have been reported more than once.
Are we on target to fulfill our charge from Session? Will this committee be finished once we have submitted a prioritized list of needs and determined their feasibility?
We must articulate the priority of needs as expressed through the congregational group meetings, and dispel misconceptions about current building usage and capacities.
How much space is actually needed for education and other programs? Some members do not understand space issues because they see rooms empty at various times, but scheduling usage of rooms at “empty” times would spoil the cohesiveness of the congregation.
Determining present building capacity is complicated. For example: a room capable of seating 24 persons is not suitable for two 12-person classes because they would be engaged in separate activities. Another example: using a single room for a junior high class at one time and a senior high class at another time would mean serious logistical problems for some families. This is one reason why Sunday morning education was changed to a single hour instead of during both worship services. Another reason was to bring children into the worship services.

Committee members agree that a feasibility study and any future fund raising should be conducted by professionals who are not church members. But we have a “chicken and egg” problem: can feasibility be determined when we don’t know exactly what we are aiming for?
Lloyd Meyer will provide contact information for 3 organizations that could conduct a feasibility study. John Morey will contact John Fettig about attending our next meeting to teach us fundamentals of such projects and how to proceed. Mary Ann will prepare a “ballot” list of perceived needs for committee members to “vote” their priorities among the building options.
On Sunday, March 19 we will offer information sessions for congregation members who have not yet heard a presentation. Lloyd’s flyer with color photos will announce these sessions through Cross Currents and Sunday, March 12 bulletins. Presenters on March 19 will be
