Minutes – September 25, 2007

Reroofing project

           Lastime Roofing  Co. was awarded the contract for the price of $197,281, which was signed by Dr. Kirk Ryckman for the Church on September 25, 2007.  This company has more experience than any other roofer in the region for installing the metal shingles chosen by our architects and committee.

Their starting date has not been finalized, but their completion date is to be held at November 20, 2007.

 

Sanctuary window repair update

           Repairs to correct framing and seals of the rock glass window panels will be done as a maintenance budget item, independent of the roofing project.  Curt Field will contact City Glass Co. to begin work a.s.a.p. to avoid possible conflict with roofing work.

 

Building design update

           Ken and Jerry Hahn showed their latest drawings of floor plans and asked for decisions on several possible alternatives.  Lengthy discussion resolved their questions.  All committee members present agreed that best compromises had been reached, considering funds available compared to expressed needs of the congregation.

           The Hahns also showed a 3-D video panorama of exterior views.  It featured a main entry with translucent “cupola” to contain the elevator and small canopy over the doors.  The west end of the new wing would have a wall element echoing the shape of the west end of the sanctuary.  The north side of the new 2-story wing would have two entries, one with large drive-under canopy. 

           The site plan adds 17 parking spaces, mostly along 114th Street and near the new entrances.  Green space will be preserved around and within the circle drive, and west of the new wing.

           Modifications to the plan as decided at this meeting will be ready for review at the next BIC meeting, and then ready for presentation to the congregation on October 21.  New cost estimates, with amounts attached to various features as “donor opportunities”, will also be ready then.
