BUILDING IMPLEMENTATION COMMITTEE
Minutes - August 7, 2007
Attendees: Paula Allen, Henry Arms, Amy Boesen, Jim Chapin, Curt Field, Jerry Hahn, Ken Hahn, Doug Hartman, Mac McCartney, Lloyd Meyer, Mary Ann Pederson
Roofing material samples were viewed outdoors and compared to existing roof shingles. The color chosen was closest to the existing roof’s appearance, “Country Blend Canyon Shake” by Gerard. It is steel with stone-chip coating, guaranteed against fading and 2-inch hail damage. The old shinges will be removed but the copper vertical strips will be preserved.
Discussed strategies for reducing $405,184 from the building cost of the North Project. (Subtract from KHA August 2 estimate of $2,815,939 to equal maximum expenditure of $2.410,000).
Consensus reached the following reductions:
· Leave lower level of North wing an unfinished “shell” - $200,000
· Postpone parking lot renovations - 35,000
· Postpone renewal of large sign - 5,000
Leaves shortfall of $165,184
· Reduce both levels by 600 sq. ft. from proposed 14,600 gross sq. ft.
KHA will revise schematic drawings to reflect these changes. These reductions and earlier ones such as furnishings for the new spaces could be presented to the congregation as potential “donor package” items.
Next meeting: Tuesday, August 21 6:45 pm.
Agenda items will include:
· roof bids report
· status of reductions of square footage and dollar amounts
· plans for communication to congregation
· status of Major Donor Team’s activity and results
