Paula outlined history of the building committees’ work:
· 4-member committee presented “Vision of Hope” in 2003
· Building Expansion Exploration Committee (BEEC) began Oct. 17, 2005
· Looked at the Case Statement, reviewed Vision of Hope plan with its committee, examined Long Range Planning objectives
· Received charge from Session to determine the congregation’s perceptions
· Held meetings with over 20 different groups of congregation members and analyzed their responses
· Established priorities through an objective process
· Presented a summary to Session Retreat in April, 2006—asked and received permission to engage architects.
· Worked with Kenneth Hahn Architects to devise a plan with stages which could be built independently and also meet most needs expressed by congregation
· Presented Hahn’s schematic drawings to congregation Jan. 2007
· Session engaged Resource Services Inc. of Dallas to conduct a feasibility study and then a capital campaign, culminating in May 2007.
Discussed an enduring perception among some congregation members that there is an agenda being promoted by a few and hidden from the majority. Emphatically denied.
